Alanis Morissette and the Postpartum She Couldn't White-Knuckle Through

Medium fit

Privacy is about how much of yourself you reveal to the people in your life. Alanis Morissette's Gen X instinct was to keep the suffering private — to carry the invisible load invisibly. The shift was choosing to speak publicly while still inside the experience, not after. She moved Privacy from nearly closed to wide open, and found that the openness itself was part of what helped — both her and the people who reached out saying they were going through the same thing.
