Brightness is about whether you can see the hopeful or constructive side of a situation. The caller had her brightness turned low — she was only seeing the version of her story that outside voices painted: irresponsible, abandoned child, failed mother. The shift was toward seeing what the research actually shows about parenting — that love, affection, and quality time matter more than custody paperwork. Turning up Brightness meant she could start seeing her own relationship with her son as genuinely meaningful, not just legally compromised.
