Storage
How much you hold onto — thoughts, emotions, relationships, experiences. Can be overloaded or carefully curated.
Alfred Zheng Li and Describing His Wife
Storage is about what someone holds onto and how they manage what they carry. Alfred Zheng Li was sitting with an enormous amount — years of memories of his wife at different stages of illness and health, descriptions given by others in his grief group, a sense of what his life was supposed to have been. The essay was essentially Alfred sorting through storage: deciding what to keep, what felt hollow, and what actually captured the person he lost. His conclusion — that the most important things were the plainest ones — was a curation decision.
