Storage

How much you hold onto — thoughts, emotions, relationships, experiences. Can be overloaded or carefully curated.

Janine Hilling and Mr. Chow

High fit

Storage is about what you hold onto and how you hold it. Janine Hilling stored the Mr. Chow memory in what she called the part of her brain reserved for humiliating things — a kind of shame folder. Over time, she didn't delete it, but she moved it. She kept the memory but changed the label on it from "evidence of failure" to "origin story." That reorganization is what allowed her to tell it on stage without collapsing under it.
