App Permissions controls what different areas of life are allowed to access — the boundaries between work, relationships, health, and identity. Sara Kari had walled off her personal feelings and political beliefs from her professional identity as a journalist, and those walls were starting to feel suffocating rather than functional. The reporting process forced her to look at whether those walls were set right, or whether she had given her job permission to silence parts of herself that had something real to say.
