Time Zone
Your awareness of where others are in their journey. The ability to meet people in their time, not just yours.
Brené Brown and the Six in the Middle
Time Zone represents how Brené Brown learned to understand where other people were in their journey rather than expecting them to be where she was. She had been traveling internationally, immersed in conversations about authoritarianism, while the "middle six" were focused on daily survival tasks like getting kids ready for school. When she realized that people weren't avoiding politics out of apathy but because they were busy with immediate responsibilities, she adjusted her expectations to meet people in their time zone rather than demanding they catch up to hers.
