Jill and the Cornell Campus Police
Privacy controls how much of yourself you reveal and to whom. Jill disclosed everything — her identity, her experience, the details of the harassment — to campus police, expecting that information to be held in confidence. Instead, her privacy was directly violated by the officer who reported her name to Greek life leadership. As a result, she closed down completely, deciding that sharing again would only put her at greater risk.
