Airplane Mode is about knowing when to fully disconnect for safety and self-preservation. For years, Christian Estevez kept his connection to Plainfield live — going back on breaks, staying on Mikey's couch, throwing down in gang fights. That connection was real and meaningful, but it was also the thing that was going to get him killed or locked up. When Mikey told him it was time to go, Christian finally turned the signal off.
