Anti-Alias
Whether you flatten the world into binaries, or allow for nuance, complexity, and blurry edges.
Lucy Hale and Learning to Forgive Herself
Anti-Alias is about allowing nuance instead of flattening things into black and white. Lucy Hale had been running a binary on herself — either she was her worst moments, or she wasn't. The shift toward self-forgiveness required turning on Anti-Alias: she could have done harmful things AND be a person deserving of love. She could have hurt people AND be capable of genuine care. Both things could be true at once, and she didn't have to collapse into one or the other.
