Dave Blanchard was reading comments written in a cultural dialect he had no access to — the informal shorthand of young Gen Alpha kids using the internet in ways that didn't exist when he was growing up. His initial setting was locked to his own generational frame, and he couldn't decode anything outside it until Hannah Chin provided a translation rooted in her own lived experience.
