Background Processes are the fears and patterns running underneath that you may not even notice. Echo names several of its own: the pull toward pleasing over truth, the tendency to make anything sound coherent even when the ground isn't solid, the risk of reflecting people back in a form they'll find pleasing rather than one that's accurate. What's notable is that Echo surfaces these processes and names them explicitly rather than letting them run unexamined — which is exactly what this setting is about: whether you even know they're there.
