Parental Controls is about whether you get to choose who you are instead of defaulting to how you were raised. Chad had been raised inside a religious system that decided everything for him — what was sin, what was truth, what was wrong with him. His sister's intervention was the first time someone flipped that switch and told him the system was wrong, not him. From that point forward, Chad began the slow process of choosing his own identity rather than inheriting the one the church had assigned him.
