Cameron had been running Hotspot constantly - being the connection point for everyone else's problems, the person everyone called when things went wrong. The oil crisis forced him to turn off Hotspot at the worst possible moment. Instead of rushing back to share his energy and problem-solving with the team, he stayed in India and made them find their own connection to solutions. This taught him that constantly being everyone else's lifeline can actually weaken the network.
