Restart allowed Oliver Sipple to pause his internal struggle about identity and begin again as simply a person protecting another person. When he saw that gun, all his wrestling with being Billy versus Oliver, gay versus straight, coward versus hero just stopped. He restarted as someone who could act clearly and instinctively, grabbing the assassin's arm without overthinking who he was supposed to be in that moment.
