Restart represents Colin Jost's ability to pause his established identity as a head writer and begin again as a performer, not reactively but with intention. He had to intentionally restart his relationship with the show and his colleagues, moving from behind-the-scenes writer to on-camera talent, which required pausing everything he knew about his role there.
