Background Processes

The fears, survival patterns, and old logic that keep running in your mind whether you notice them or not. Some were installed by you, some by your environment, some by people who raised you. This setting is not about stopping them — it is about whether you even know they are there.

Colin Gosselin and the Basement Room

High fit

Background Processes captures the survival logic Colin Gosselin was running constantly — the internal rule that said 'don't say anything unless they can take you away right now.' This wasn't a choice he made in the moment; it was a pattern installed by years of watching his words get him hurt. Even when a CYS worker was sitting across from him, this process ran automatically, silencing him before he could speak. Writing the crayon letter was the first time he consciously overrode it.
