Anti-Alias
Whether you flatten the world into binaries, or allow for nuance, complexity, and blurry edges.
Alex Cooper and the Shame of Grieving Her Old Life
Anti-Alias is about refusing to flatten a complex situation into a simple binary. Alex Cooper spent most of this episode pushing back against the cultural rule that a pregnant woman must be either completely grateful or completely broken. She names the two-option trap explicitly — the grateful goddess or the ungrateful complainer — and argues for the messy, blurry middle. By the end, she's no longer collapsing her experience into one clean label; she's holding the contradiction on purpose.
