Force Quit
When a specific thought, worry, or emotion keeps looping, you intentionally stop feeding it.
Mike Thexton and the Hijacking on Pan Am Flight 73
Force Quit is about deliberately stopping a thought or emotion that keeps looping. Mike Thexton had been cycling through fear and the mental image of being shot for hours — a loop he couldn't break through distraction or hope. Kneeling on the airplane floor, he made an active decision to stop feeding the fear of the hijacker specifically. By mentally saying goodbye to everyone he loved and choosing in advance to forgive the man who might kill him, he interrupted the loop. The fear didn't vanish, but it stopped consuming him.
