Update is about installing a new way of thinking even when the current version feels comfortable. Mike Thexton had built a life that worked — stable job, clear path — and was comfortable letting his brother carry the flag for adventure. After Peter died, Mike stopped running his old operating system and chose to rebuild: he quit the job, traveled to China, and eventually made the journey to Pakistan. The inputs that once justified his old life were gone, so he updated.
